Organize Your Front Seat!

Time and time again I see it in the parking lot. I wonder what the owner does if someone needs a ride! I’m talking about cluttered front car seats.

If you spend a lot of time traveling in your car like me, that passenger seat kinda serves as my daily “desk” so to speak. I put things on there I need for appointments, reminders for errands I have to run in between meetings, and my various pick ups and drive through items go there as well.

Clever Container offers these oh-so-simple-to-install car hooks that are live savers! You can hang your purse on them, making it easier for you to reach your phone or essentials while driving. If you grocery shop, and are tired of the groceries going all over your car, these hooks will also do the trick.

Create useful space in your car with these clever hooks. Installation is easily done by sliding the hooks around any standard headrest post. We find these to be perfect for bags, purses, backpacks, dog leashes, dry cleaning and headphones for starters!

Qualify to earn a set of CAR HOOKS for FREE when you purchase $50 or more in regularly priced merchandise (limit one per customer)! Dimensions are 5 1/2 x 1; and they come in a set of two. Regularly they are priced at $11.95, plus shipping and handling.

To order these car hooks or other Clever Container Organizing products from Little Miss Efficiency, visit this link, and check out the catalog on the top right: http://www.littlemissefficiency.com/clever_container/

This month we have a car organizing workshop, in which the car hooks will be one of the featured organizing projects. Check out our Organizing Club this month and buy the hooks  in person at: http://www.meetup.com/Little-Miss-Efficiency-s-Meetup-Group/calendar/15733232/

Your Face’s “Best Friend” for Travel

roll up makeup bag

Can anyone really downplay the importance of makeup? After all our face is what people notice first. Does it take you more time to find your lipstick than to apply it? Organizing and maintaining cosmetics is not only helpful, but it’s sanitary. And when you travel, it’s best to have simple organized process to contain “your face” on the go.

Precisely why as a professional organizer I fell in love with the travel rollup bag from Mary Kay. I never travel without it. It has enough slots to hold my essential brushes and liners, netted pockets for my change of eye shadows, and a large zipper pocket for my compacts, blush and mascara.

I buy the rollups for all my clients through a local friend, Toni Thornburn, who is a makeup expert with Mary Kay. Thornburn is a fellow ambassador at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, where I came to know her. Thornburn is a dependable, stand up, no-nonsense kinda gal. When it comes to makeup and organizing makeup, she knows what she’s talking about!

To order the travel roll up bag, visit this link: http://www.marykay.com/tonit/skincare/travelrollupbag/default.aspx Or Toni’s site at http://www.marykay.com/tonit/default.aspx You can also phone Toni directly  at 702.491.4593 or even email her for more information at tonitmk@aspenbts.com. Custom Closets You Can Afford

ABSOLUTE CLOSETS LOGO

Did you know being organized influences your daily life? The first thing you do every morning is get dressed, right? So naturally the state of your closet could very well offset your entire day! Research shows that the number one irritant of American homes is clutter in the closets.

Closets are one of the most forgotten but most important features in a home. Realtors regard ‘first impression’ improvements such as de-cluttering closets to be one of the smartest ways to spruce up your home before putting it on the market.  Organized and custom closets are also the smartest ways to speed the sale of a home and fetch a better price, according to the Association of Realtors.

IKEA conducted a customer in which 31% of respondents reported they were more satisfied after cleaning out their closets than they were after sex. IKEA also reported that women with closet shoe racks were seven times more likely to be on time for work than women without closet shoe racks.

absolute clost picture

You don’t have to have a huge luxury closet to have one that works well. Conquering chaos and creating closets that work is easier than you think. Custom closets no longer have to be something you only wish for. Absolute Closets is one of my favorite custom closet companies and they are the premier Valley closet designer!

Custom closet designer, Kathy Crook, is my main gal at Absolute Closets, as I entrust all my clients to her. Kathy not only creates the  most beautiful custom closets you ever laid your eyes on; but she will show you that custom closets are more affordable than you think. She is detail-oriented and you can always count on her to deliver. Like the company she represents, Kathy believes and delivers 100% customer satisfaction.

If you take steps to organizing your closet with custom installs, you don’t just want any run of the mills pieces. Kathy and Absolute Closets take careful measurements, work with you on an affordable budget, and give you great ideas you normally would not have squeezed out of your closet space.

You can visit Absolute Closet’s website at http://absoluteclosets.com/ Or phone Kathy directly  for an in-home consultation at 702-306-5974. Be sure to tell her Little Miss Efficiency sent you!

Streamline Your Printing Cartridge Costs

cartridge world logo

Any way you slice it – - – a busy home office; just a simple computer and printer; or a small business bustling with printer stations – - – printing can get expensive! Printer cartridges add up to a small fortune and they always run out just when you need to print one thing. If you are organized enough, you can be better prepared. And if you are a thrifty consumer, then you better know about Cartridge World.

In graduate school our text books were online. Being a visual leaner, I had to print out all my books and materials. I credit Cartridge World with helping me through graduate school. And when I met Nancy Mehta, our Little Miss Efficiency printers have been in love with Cartridge World ever since.

Cartridge World is the world’s fastest growing ink and toner refilling retailer. They refill and re-manufacture inkjet and toner printer cartridges, using state-of-the-art processes and high quality inks and toners. In the Valley, Nancy and Sham Mehta own two Cartridge World’s and they offer the best cartridges around. With their 100% satisfaction-money-back guarantee, the Mehtas will not only delivery qualifying cartridge orders to your door, but their stores help the environment by keeping cartridges out of landfills. Cartridge World was voted #1 in the category of toner replacement services by Entrepreneur Magazine for 2010

With two stores conveniently located in the Valley, Cartridge World is the ONLY cartridge provider for our business and our clients. I guarantee their prices cannot be beat and their customer service is stupendous.

Like myself, Mehta is an ambassador with the Henderson Chamber of Commerce; as well as a member of the Billionaire Business Club and many other networking groups. So many that Mehta is the author of the popular weekly, Nancy’s Networking Newsletter, which highlights networking events. The Mehtas are originally from Connecticut and have two sons who are both planning on becoming doctors. Their daughter and her husband gave them their first grandchild who just turned one. You can visit Nancy’s Cartridge World store at http://www.cartridgeworld.com/usa/usa781/ or phone them direct with your printer model and cartridge numbers to compare your savings at 702.586.0634.

A New Way to File

fifi logo

When you mention “filing” few positive emotions and reactions come to mind…unless you are professional organizer. For years, my trusty label-maker and I have brought order to countless client’s personal and professional files. But Karen Roehl’s invention, called FIFI™ — File It and Find It™ — just goes to show you that you CAN even teach an old dog new tricks! With FIFI™, there really is no need for a label maker or file indices (the tabs that insert into files.)

Roehl’s (FIFI™) is a color-coded filing system designed for simplicity, efficiency, and organization.  It comes ready to use with existing home or small business filing systems.  FIFI™ can also be used to create a new filing system.  Whether you are incorporating FIFI™ into an existing system or creating a new system, set up FIFI™ and literally you are ready to File It and Find It™!

100_0044

What I love about FIFI™,  is its simplicity, uniformity and colors. Rather than over categorize your files, a common mistake, FIFI™ has the basic necessities for any home filing system. FIFI™ had done the work for you.  Anyone who uses it has an instant filing system that is easy to follow! FIFI™ only needs a box of files and a drawer or file crate to work with. The hard cardboard card stand up beautifully and uniformly in hanging file folders (as shown above.)

Karen Roehl, owner of Clear Living®, Inc., is a Clarity Coach and Life Organizer who has helped individuals, families, and businesses to clarify their lives for more than 10 years. She is passionate about helping individuals and families to clear their clutter and get organized in their personal and professional lives. She brings a unique and compassionate approach to those wanting to create a new reality with their paper, space, time, and projects. You can visit her at www.clearliving.biz.

Contact Wendy on ordering her favorite FIFI™,  or for her simple tactics on filing at www.littlemissefficiency.com. A Professional Organizer’s Best Online Friend

Organize-logoBlue

Professional organizers can find a plethora of organizing products  from A to Z, for every room of the home…and then some at Organize.com.  This company has over 23,000 organizing products and counting!  Their customer service is parallel to none.  And what I like about this store is the ease, with which a do-it-yourselfer can find product suggestions for projects. Those of us in the industry blissfully shop here since the company is so supportive of the professional organizing industry.

Organize.com  is also one of the best online sites to see the newest organizing gadgets.  The company was founded by Californian, Terry Shearer, who had a personal interest in being neat with a penchant for gadgets. Shearer was intrigued with the world of storage and organization. Organize.com maintains partnerships with Amazon.com, Cooking.com, Shop.com and HGTV.com. The web resource magazine Internet Retailer lists Organize.com in the Top 500 Retail Websites and among their Hot 100 for 2009. Organize.com is also listed by Inc. Magazine as one of the 5000 fastest growing companies in the United States.

Shearer’s company is privately owned and operates with the same philosophy as the day their doors first opened, as they work with original vendors, who have been more like friends.  They test hundreds of product submissions each year looking for the “best of the best.” They also develop products of their own, if what they want can’t be found.

Please visit Organize.com http://www.organize.com.  Contact Wendy for her favorite organize.com products at info@littlemissefficiency.com or 702.673.0624.  If you would like to learn more about organizing or hiring your own professional organizer to jump start a room, please contact Little Miss Efficiency’s at 702.673.0624 or info@littlemissefficiency.com

David Allen’s Getting Things Done – The Art of Stress-Free Productivity

book cover jpg

One of my newest, favorite books is David Allen’s Getting Things Done – The Art of Stress-Free Productivity. GTD, the popular shorthand for Getting Things Done, is really the gold standard in personal management and is used by the world’s best and brightest executives and companies. Learn how to get meaningful things done with the least amount of invested attention and energy!

Allen simplifies the concept of every day work and all the “stuff” that goes with those responsibilities. At one time or another we are all guilty of inappropriately managing commitments. But GTD helps you inventory them and review them in a more systematic way. Allen’s GTD helps you get “on your game” with “six horizons” of commitments to follow: purpose, vision, goals, areas of focus, projects, and actions.

The human brain has limited capabilities when it comes to holding information. This especially rings true for me, with my own short-term memory issues. Allen eloquently describes how to capture your “incompletes” and “open loops” while establishing a “collection bucket” to get it all done in the most productive fashion.

Use this book’s common sense to inventory and organize all your commitments. If you would like to learn more about David Allen and his GTD phenomenon, visit his website at http://www.davidco.com/what_is_gtd.php.  If you would like to learn more about being more productive or working with your own personal organizing coach, please contact Little Miss Efficiency’s at 702.673.0624 or info@littlemissefficiency.com

Why the Staples Henderson store is my favorite!

staples

It is so no secret that as a professional organizer, I absolutely love shopping at the office supply stores, looking for the latest and greatest products to keep my clients organized.  Some stores have special things, you can’t get at others.

However, Staples has MANY special things that keeps me coming back on an almost-weekly basis. Not only is the staff friendly, but the whole store’s vibe is way better than other office supply giants.

First of all, the Staples Henderson staff never changes. They always remember your name, greet every guest who enters the store, and ask if he or she needs help. It truly is service with a smile at Staples. And what small business owner doesn’t love that?!

When Staples Henderson had its grand opening last year, I jumped for joy and ran to the ribbon cutting as an ambassador for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. And let me tell you, they put together one of the best grand openings I’ve seen! Yeah, the then-mayor was there (pictured with me below) but I was more excited about the Staples-brand, newest, orange, stand up stapler they gave to each attendee!

staples ribbon cutting

I love the Staples staff and am proud to say I know each one by name! They are the most helpful professionals when it comes of office supplies in the Valley. Staples even introduced me to the “Really Useful Box” line that is an organizer’s dream.

really useful box pink

Don’t let its size fool you! This new line of boxes is available exclusively at Staples (in store, not online yet). The “Really Useful Boxes” (yes that’s actually their name) come in a variety of colors and sizes. The smaller ones (around the size of your cell phone, or smaller) for $1, $2 and $3 are are found near Staples’ registers, are perfect for medicine cabinets, drawers and tight desk spaces. Their signature blue and grey handles snap, for a tight, organized closure. Contact Wendy for Really Useful Box ideas and organizing at info@littlemissefficiency.com or 702.673.0624.

If you would like to learn more about the Staples Henderson store, check out their website at http://www.staples.com.  Here is the link for my Staples store in Henderson, Nevada.

Organized Bathroom Cabinets with These!

bathroom cabinet picture

Bathroom counter space can be a rarity in any home, with all of the dental and hygiene products essential to our daily, morning routines. For women, it can be even tougher as their makeup collections grow. Where can you put it all and still have an organized bathroom?

Our friend Robin Wilhelm, of Pitt Original Design Systems, is a professional organizers’ best friend. She created these God-sends for the too-small-and-not-enough-shelved bathroom cabinet. Her product is called MagnaPods and they maximize all of your cabinet space, while keeping your often-used items handy.

Made of acrylic, MagnaPods have a strong magnetic backing perfect for bathroom medicine cabinets. In turn, the magnets allow you to customize your cabinet organization as they fit between shelves. Each MagnaPod has internal dividers, making them perfect to hold toothbrushes, make up brushes, tweezers, nail clippers, or tubes of makeup. I always forget to put my finishing mascara on, but with MagnaPods that is no loner an issue. Having items handy when you open the medicine cabinet helps you take advantage of unused storage space. Of course, this in turn takes clutter off the bathroom counter top.

Wilhelm is a native of Glendale, Arizona. Her design inspiration came from her love of cosmetic counter freebies. She needed something to organize the samples and make them easier to use every day. Whallah! Our favorite, prized MagnaPods were born.

MagnaPods have been in organizing catalogs such as, Lillian Vernon, Storables, Get Organized, Organize.com and select Bed, Bath and Beyond stores. Wilhelm and her product have also been featured on QVC.

Think about your bathroom’s appearance. Can some of your favorite items be more accessible with the use of MagnaPods? The benefits are endless and MagnaPods come in a variety of sizes and dividers for just under $10 (before shipping and handling.)

If you would like to learn more about MagnaPods, check out their website at http://www.magnapods.com. If you would like to learn more about how to organize your bathroom or cabinets, please contact Little Miss Efficiency’s professional organizers  life at 702.673.0624 or info@littlemissefficiency.com
