The Joy of Shredders
There is nothing like a good shredder, to help with the productivity of your home office or home. With identity theft rampant these days, we can never be too careful when discarding that junk mail and all those credit card offers we receive daily via the U.S. Post Office.
Shredders are well worth the investment, whatever your budget may be. Throwing your personal information in the garbage is no longer safe. Criminals can easily steal your identity by searching through your trash.
No doubt, shredders can get expensive, running over $300 for the top of the line. In my opinion, shredders are good, if only they can shred at least 8-12 pages at one time. Anything less than that, is basically a waste of money in my opinion. Another great additional feature is the credit card slot and cd slot, for al those junk cards that come in the mail. When selecting a shredder you also want to keep in mind its noise level. Of course the quieter the better, but those will be a bit more pricey. As well, you want to look at the shredding cut. Strips are fine, but cross cut is even better.
So far, I have found that Staples has the best selection of shredders. Staples has the widest range in selection, as well as prices. They also have the cutest, mini-size shredder for your desktop that looks like a toaster. It is the Staples M5 Mailmate Shredder, has a 12-paper capacity, and runs for $89.99 online (before shipping, handling and taxes). The M5 is by far my favorite due to its size perfect for your desktop or a credenza so you can whip through those sensitive documents and shred to your heart’s content.
